Buffalo, NY – There's still no decision on where in Buffalo the Seneca Nation of Indians plans to locate its next casino.
Tribal leaders held a council meeting Thursday night on their reservation in Salamanca, but they dealt with other matters and didn't make a decision on where to build the tribe's third casino in western New York.
The casino will be built in downtown Buffalo. There was a report in Thursday's Buffalo News that the Senecas have made an offer to buy the former DL&W rail terminal behind HSBC Arena.
According to the tribe's gaming compact with the state, the Seneca Nation must select a site by December 9h. Seneca Nation President Barry Snyder says a decision could come as early as next week.
Meanwhile, the group "Citizens Against Casino Gambling in Erie County" has retained attorney Richard Lippes to file a lawsuit seeking an environmental impact study of the terminal site. The group has scheduled a meeting for this Tuesday night to solidify its strategy for fighting the casino.
