Buffalo, NY – The Western New York-based company that supplies caps to Major League Baseball is moving its world headquarters to Buffalo.
The New Era Cap Company has announced plans to move its headquarters a few miles north from Derby to the former Federal Reserve Building in downtown Buffalo. The plan includes adding 240 jobs to the company's local payroll.
The company produces caps for Major League Baseball and other professional sports leagues at its plants in Derby and Alabama. New Era had been considering moving its corporate staff to Alabama, but decided to stay in Western New York.
The state is contributing nearly $3.5 million to help New Era make the move to Buffalo.
The 240 new jobs will be split between the new headquarters and the company's Derby plant, where 330 people currently work.
