Buffalo, NY – Former "Friends of the Night People" director Darren Strickland was sentenced to six months in jail Tuesday for stealing money from the shelter he once ran.
He was convicted of grand larceny for stealing more than $44,000, money he was ordered by the judge to repay.
In court, Strickland apologized for his actions, saying he hopes they don't taint the good work of "Friends of the Night People."

On Monday, a former secretary at St. Christopher's Church in Tonawanda received six months in jail for the theft of more than 488-thousand dollars.
Erie County District Attorney Frank Clark says it's up to board members of various agencies make sure proper accounting practices are in place.
