Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says the City will be tearing down 50 properties and rehabing 10 in the neighborhood that borders with Cheektowaga thanks to Federal grant dollars.
The City and and Cheekotwaga will be sharing more than $2.6 million. The federal funds are being provided to enhance and stabilize neighborhoods surrounding the Buffalo-Cheekotwaga border.
Congressman Brian Higgins announced the federal grant Tuesday at the corner of Walden Avenue and Poplar in Buffalo. Mayor Brown says he has been working closely with Cheektowaga to address blight and housing conditions.
The funding is part of $59 million released by Governor Paterson through the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
