Buffalo, NY – An earthquake sent a rumble across Western New York Wednesday. The U.S Geological Survey said there was an earthquake in the Ontario-Quebec border that registered a 5.0 magnitude.
Western New Yorkers from all across the region reported feeling the strong quake rumble.
Jana Eisenberg is the communications manager at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society on Elwmood Avenue. Eisenberg said the rumble felt like it lasted about 6-seconds.
"The building was definitely moving," said Eisenberg.
Julie Deuble who works at Artisan Kitchens and Baths on Amherst Street in Buffalo also felt the tremor. She says it was very strong. The floors and walls of the her building shook.
"The building was definitely moving," said Deuble.
Dueble said her boss's computer monitor was shaking during the tremor. There were NO reports of injury or damage. She said it lasted about 12 to 15 seconds.
The quake was felt across the region from downtown Buffalo to Lewiston and Sardinia. Many of our listeners wrote on WBFO'S facebook and twitter pages. And an Olean listener said he was at a Subway shop at the mall when he felt his seat wobble.
