Buffalo, NY – A marine from Jamestown is the latest war casualty serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

21 year old Lance Corporal Aaron Swanson died Monday while conducting combat operations in Helmand Province.

Swanson was assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion-25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division. His reserve unit is based in Buffalo.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has directed that flags on state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of Swanson.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers I extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends, and fellow Marines of Lance Corporal Swanson. This young Marine gave his life for our nation and we will honor and remember his service," said Governor Cuomo.
