Buffalo, N.Y. – Pop star Lady Gaga is talking about the suicide of 14 year old Jamey Rodemeyer of Williamsville on her Twitter page.
The teen was found dead Sunday in his home. His parents say he killed himself and was the victim of bullying as he struggled with his sexuality.
Lady Gaga says she has "spent the last five days reflecting, crying, and yelling."
Gaga writes " I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life. Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become illegal. It is a hate crime. I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it."
Jamey Rodemeyer spoke of Lady Gaga in a YouTube video he recorded. Prior to his death, the teen posted the video message to try and help others struggling from bullying.
"I just want to tell you that it does get better," said Rodemeyer in the on-line video.
"Lady Gaga makes me so happy. She lets me know I was born this way. Now all you have to do is hold your head up. That's all you have to do. Just love yourself and you're set, and I promise you it will get better," said Rodemeyer.
Amherst Police are investigating whether students who bullied Rodemeyer could be charged with harassment or hate crimes.
