Man pleads not guilty to killing 13-year-old girl

Despite reportedly confessing to police, the Buffalo man accused of murdering and raping a 13-year-old girl last month pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday morning.Darshawn Morris, 21, aka "Slink," has been indicted on charges related to the death of 13-year-old Lanasha Rollerson. Rollerson was killed in the early morning of September 1, following a party on Hagen Street.

After being reported missing by her family, Rollerson's body was found stabbed to death behind a nearby garage. Morris was arrested roughly 24 hours later. Buffalo Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda said, at the time, Morris had confessed to the crime.

Morris faces charges of second-degree murder, second-degree rape, and second-degree criminal sexual act. He was arraigned in State Supreme Court and is being held without bail.

If convicted of all charges, Morris would face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
