Buffalo voters made a fundamental change Tuesday in the Buffalo Board of Education by tossing out the current majority and putting in place a new one which will take office July 1. In unofficial returns, voters elected three at-large members, retaining school board President Barbara Seals Nevergold and electing former Buffalo Sabres managing partner Larry Quinn and Patricia Bowers Pierce.
Thirteen candidates ran in the election. WBFO'S Jay Moran spoke with Buffalo News Education reporter Sandra Tan about results of these elections Wednesday, which captured unprecedented attention from the community.
With Quinn and Pierce heading to the Buffalo School Board, the end appears to be approaching for Pamela Brown's tenure as Buffalo Schools Superintendent.
"It's not a matter of whether the superintendent is going to leave the Buffalo School District," said Buffalo News education reporter Sandra Tan. "At this point, you're really talking about a matter of when and how. Larry Quinn said that it's not that he thought the superintendent was the beginning and the end of the district's problems, but if you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem."
