Forecast & Conditions

For Friday morning into the evening: The National Weather Service Buffalo reports lake effect snow will continue east of Lake Erie through this morning, and east of Lake Ontario through the day today. The lake effect snow will come to an end tonight, then a notable warming trend will develop over the weekend.

Snowfall rates are expected to stay under 1" per hour by this morning over Chautauqua County. Some light snow may linger across Chautauqua County and far western Cattaraugus and far southwest Erie counties today, but this will be light, and should end completely later in the day. Tonight, most of the snow should be done by the evening, though a few lingering flurries will be possible near the lakeshore through the mid-evening.

Orchard Park 38 inches
East Aurora 37 inches
Elma 34.5 inches
Hamburg 33 inches
Attica 27 inches
Boston 21.7 inches
Colden 20.1 inches
Silver Creek 16 inches

The snow band has also pushed further east, extending into Genesee and Wyoming Counties, with areas like Alexander reaching more than 11 inches through Thursday morning, and Attica at almost 20 inches, Weatherology Radio Meteorologist Michael Karow said.

Travel Bans

In Erie County, all travel bans have been downgraded to travel advisories EXCEPT the City of Lackawanna, which is set to expire at 3:00 p.m.

The City of Dunkirk downgraded their driving ban to a travel advisory on Thursday night.

The tandem and empty trailer ban on the I-90 (NYS Thruway) has been lifted as of 9:30.a.m. Friday.

Route 219 has been reopened in Erie County as of 9:30.a.m. Friday.

Route 400 opened once again at 9:30.a.m. Friday.

Advisories:

Under a travel advisory, only necessary travel is permitted. "If it can wait until tomorrow or later today, sit tight," an Erie County, NY Facebook post read.

A travel advisory is in effect for the south half of City of Buffalo, Aurora, Boston, Colden, Collins, Concord, Eden, Elma, Evans, Hamburg, Holland, Marilla, Orchard Park, North Collins, Sardinia, Wales, West Seneca and villages in those towns.

A travel advisory in effect for northern Chautauqua County.

Wyoming County has lifted their travel advisory by Friday morning.

A travel advisory is in place for the City of Dunkirk.
