Coach USA Tour buses shut down by federal regulators

Coach USA Tour buses have been ordered off the road. The U.S. Department of Transportation says drivers for the Niagara Falls-based transit company falsified documents and that the company kept improper records.Safety officials also say bus drivers were required to maintain and repair vehicles.

The company disputes the claims, but says it will work with the DOT in correcting the problem. The shutdown took effect Wednesday by order of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Coach USA Tour Inc. President Lucy Shun says the company will work with the DOT to address the issues with the hope of resuming operations as quickly as possible.

The Niagara Falls company is not connected with a New Jersey bus company also called Coach USA.
