A new mountain bike course should be under construction soon on Buffalo's Outer Harbor. It's part of a new blueprint for nearly 160 acres of land along Furhmann Boulevard approved Monday by the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation.
The plan includes a new visitor center, redeveloping the Michigan Avenue Pier and adding new overlook locations. ECHDC board member David Colligan says the improvements came out of a public brainstorming session.
"What we're trying to accomplish here is something that meets the public's requirements that we move forward. But at the same time not move forward with big monolithic buildings that we can't reverse later," Colligan said.

The ECHDC Board also approved spending one dollar to acquire land across from Canalside currently owned by the New York Power Authority. The 14.2 acre parcel includes a marina and the Connecting Terminal grain elevator.
