Beyond the Playbook: Bills defenseless against the Jets

The New York Jets gained nearly 500 yards in offense in dominating the Buffalo Bills defense in a 37-31 win Thursday night. The effort provided a stark contrast from last Sunday when they held the Baltimore Ravens to just 13 points. "It's been one of the strangest, most disconnected first two games of any season," said analyst Matt Sabuda during WBFO's Beyond the Playbook.

"Take last week's defensive performance and this week's offensive performance and the Bills have one complete game," Sabuda said.

"Unfortunately for fans, it doesn't quite work that way."

While the offense improved upon its week one performance when they managed only seven points, many key players turned in uneven performances.

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor threw three touchdown passes, though his fourth-quarter interception ended an important drive for the Bills. Running back LeSean McCoy gained only 59 yards. Receiver Sammy Watkins caught just two passes for 20 yards.

"These are supposed to be stars for Buffalo's offense. In this league, if your top players don't produce, you simply can't win," Sabuda said.

The Bills next host the Arizona Cardinals at New Era Field on Sunday, September 25th.

Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m.
