The Buffalo Bills staff took part in a day of service at Cazenovia Park Friday. This is the second year the Bills crew volunteered their time in the community.
The staff planted trees and flower beds, weeding, laying playground mulch, and installing a woodchip pathway in the South Buffalo park with help from the Buffalo Olmstead Parks Conservancy.
Vice President of Community Relations Gretchen Geitter says it’s important to give back to the community.
“The community supports us so much and it’s just an honor and a privilege to be in a situation where we can do projects like this and really partner with great organizations like Olmstead. It also falls under our whole PLAY 60 category of helping to improve places for people to get out and be active,” said Geitter.

The Bills staff also planted an oak tree in the park in memory of the teams founding owner Ralph Wilson Jr.

“The reason we chose the oak tree is because it symbolizes strength, wisdom, loyalty and honor; all qualities that Mr. Wilson embodied. So, we thought it would be a very fitting tribute and an oak tree that will hopefully be here for the next 200 years,” said Geitter.
Geitter says the tree will be easy to locate in the park as an RCW plaque was placed in front of it. The same letters will be worn on player’s jerseys during the upcoming Buffalo Bills season.
